After last month’s alleged stand-off between Diego Costa and Antonio Conte, there have been rumours claiming the Chelsea striker could leave for China in the summer.
The 29-year-old made a quick return to the team, but there is still uncertainty about his long term future at the club. According to a latest report from Spain’s Cadena SER, Costa has reached an agreement with an unnamed Chinese club over a contract worth €30m a year… after tax.
Cadena SER say the agreement between the Chinese club and Costa is ‘total and absolute’.
It’s been reported a Chinese club offered €85m to Chelsea for Costa in January, but Chelsea were reluctant to sell him. Cadena SER say Costa is tired of London, and believes his career at Chelsea is over. The offer from China would make him one of the highest earning players in the world.
This will all kick off again in the summer transfer window, but, if the claims are true, perhaps it will give Costa an extra motivation to succeed this season at Chelsea, before he rides off into relative obscurity.
