Earlier this week, Radu Drăgușin’s agent Florin Manea revealed that Tottenham Hotspur have shown interest in the Genoa star.
On Wednesday, claims from Italy stated the north London club are in pole position to sign the defender next month. It was also reported he wants to make a switch to the Premier League amid interest from Atalanta.
Fanatik had a chat with the 21-year-old’s agent where they discussed his client’s contract situation and also what’s happening on a potential move to Tottenham.
The representative claims the defender is not in a hurry to leave in January and a deal would only take place if the Serie A side are satisfied. Manea revealed this when asked what he discussed with Spurs.
“They took all the information related to Radu. And not only them, but several clubs. The transfer will depend on Genoa,” he said.
“We are grateful to the club for what they did for Radu. We would never want to leave under conditions where Genoa are not satisfied. But no one is rushing us. He doesn’t have to leave now, he has the European Championship in the summer. He can play well there, increasing his share even more.”
Two days ago, Genoa sporting director Marco Ottolini stated the Romania international will sign an extension.
When responding to this, the player’s agent suggested a decision on the renewal would be made after the next window. He wants to leave the door open for the Tottenham target to change clubs in January.
“There are many rumours, a lot of articles that appear. There is currently no concrete, black-and-white written offer. We are in no rush to leave,” Manea explained.
“For now, we are evaluating, we are not making a decision now related to the extension with Genoa.
“I think that the statement of the Genoa official is taken wrongly, there is no extension agreement. If we sign the extension, we will only do it for one more year, until 2027. We are in no rush to make a decision. We will see what happens in this transfer window. If an important offer comes, we will consider it.”
Ange Postecoglou has publicly stated he wants Tottenham to sign a new centre-back in the winter market. As well as Drăgușin, OGC Nice’s Jean-Clair Todibo is also on Spurs’ agenda.
