On May 17th, journalist Hernán Castillo stated Chelsea want to sign CA Talleres’ Ramón Sosa.
A day later, TNT Sports reported the Blues have made contact over a potential deal in the summer window. It was also said the Premier League side are expected to take further steps to try to sign the 24-year-old.
Talleres president Andrés Fassi has already confirmed there’s an agreement in place with Sosa for a transfer in the next window and that he’s looking for $20m [£15.7m] to part ways with him.
Chelsea have made contact for the winger and this is now revealed by his agent Daniel Campos during a chat with ABC Cardinal 730 AM. His comments are relayed by ABC journalist Angel Elián on X, formerly known as Twitter.
The representative adds the west London club aren’t keen and the Paraguay international has to look at other options.
“We spoke to Chelsea and they told us about that possibility [loan to Racing Strasbourg]. The sporting director told us that Ramón Sosa is not a priority, but there are other clubs interested,” he said.
Chelsea focusing on other targets hasn’t dampened the attacker’s desire to make a switch to the Premier League. His agent has confirmed work has been ongoing to help his client fulfil his wish.
“We remain firmly committed to one of the clubs moving forward in the coming days. The player has a dream of the Premier League, and we have been working on it for years,” Campos explained, relayed by Deporte Total on X.
“The amounts are handled by Talleres, but it is close to what the termination [clause] is. The start of negotiations could take place before the Copa América.”
Everton and Newcastle have also been named as interested, and he’ll be hoping for one of them to bring him to England.
