As soon as the year started, fresh claims from Italy said Chelsea continue to be interested in Victor Osimhen, and they are ‘ready to attack’ for his signing from Napoli.
It was claimed that the Blues intend to pay the €120m requested for the striker, although they may wait for the summer to do that.
As Osimhen is away with Nigeria in the Africa Cup of Nations, he’s quoted by Tuttosport speaking about the market rumours.
The Chelsea target started by claiming he has a good relationship with Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis, despite many claims from the Italian media.
“I’m happy with the president. I have a very good relationship with him, I’m sincere. He has always been close to me since I arrived at Napoli in 2020 and I also have a very good relationship with his family.”
Regarding a move to the Premier League, Osimhen didn’t mind teasing with it, claiming that’s an objective he has.
“Of course I would like to play there one day, for now I have other plans for my career. But when the time comes, you will know everything.”
Osimhen has eight goals and three assists in 18 appearances for Napoli this season, following the 31 he scored for the Serie A side last season.
The English chase for the striker has now turned into a very long saga, and we’ll see whether Chelsea will really attempt his signing when the time comes.
