Thursday key for Birmingham City transfer – Hope Blues may be ‘bluffing’, could depend on player

After nearly a month of toing and froing, Thursday is a very crucial day for Birmingham City and Jordan James.

That’s because it’s the last chance for Atalanta to sign the Wales international, who has been a target for them since the start of the transfer window.

Gazzetta dello Sport explain that today will be the day where we find out whether Birmingham are ‘bluffing’ when it comes to their €10m asking price for their star.

A previous report stated Atalanta were not prepared to go higher than €7m for the 19-year-old, and it could all come down to James himself, who may be able to push for a transfer.

Gazzetta hint at this, saying the Serie A side are ‘leveraging’ the player’s desire to move to a club who will be fighting for a Champions League spot in their favour, as that would mean leaving the Championship behind.

It could be a tense few hours over in Birmingham, who may get a phone call or a knock on the door from James, all depending on how badly he wants the transfer in the coming hours, or if he would be willing to wait until the summer.
