Having been left out of Antonio Conte’s plans at Tottenham Hotspur this season, Harry Winks moved to Sampdoria on a loan deal with an option to buy in the summer window.
The 26-year-old has not made an appearance for the Serie A side this season. He was injured when he moved to Italy and has not regained full fitness.
Sampdoria confirmed the Tottenham owned player did not take part in Tuesday’s training session. A day later, Club Doria 46 explained Winks continues to train separately.
The same outlet have come out with another report on the midfielder, titled: ‘Harry Winks still out. The return is uncertain.’
Club Doria 46 state Sampdoria were supposed to ‘give the keys’ to the team to Conte’s man, who was presented as the ‘big shot’ of the club’s summer business. Meanwhile, the Italian club have sacked Marco Giampaolo and appointed Dejan Stanković earlier this month.
It’s claimed the England international has never known the training methods of these two managers. It’s clear ‘things are not going well’ for him. His left ankle ‘haunts him’ and this makes it difficult to predict when he will regain full fitness.
Sampdoria are taking necessary precautions, the keyword here is ‘prudence’. They take on AS Roma on October 17th and Winks is unlikely to feature in this tie, given that he ‘continues to train separately’.
As it stands, this deal has been a disappointment for the player, Tottenham and the Serie A side.
