Borussia Mönchengladbach forward Marcus Thuram wants to remain in Germany this month, despite the interest from Chelsea.

That’s according to Sport 1 journalist Patrick Berger, who says the situation is fluid and ‘things can change quickly’ in the race for the Frenchman’s signature.

Thuram is one of the hottest properties on the market at this moment in time as his contract is set to expire in the summer and he is free to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with clubs around Europe for the summer.

A whole host of sides are interested in his signature and Chelsea are one of them, having recently joined the race.

They’re keen to add to their forward line this summer and it’s been made clear they are willing to pay to get Thuram this month.

Berger confirms as much, stating that Chelsea, Barcelona and Inter are all ‘in the race’ to sign the forward as a free agent in the summer.

However, Berger has been told that the Blues are ‘trying to sign’ the French striker this month to beat the competition to his signature.

They face a battle to convince the player to do so, though, as he wants to stay with Borussia until the summer.

Things, though, ‘can change quickly’, particularly with Todd Boehly continuing to splash the cash wherever possible.
