Eintracht Frankfurt are confident of victory against Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League this week, with the fighting talk ahead of the game already underway.
BILD cover comments from board spokesman and DFL figure Axel Hellmann today in which he insists his side are better than Tottenham.
Tottenham head to Frankfurt looking to keep their hopes of winning the Europa League and qualifying for the Champions League next season alive with a win.
The two sides are evenly poised after a 1-1 draw in the first leg last week in which Tottenham dominated for large parts but were unable to convert their chances so they could head to Germany with an advantage in the second leg.
That might be something they come to regret as they will need to find a way around an Eintracht Frankfurt side who have been impressive at home this season, boasting the third best home record in the Bundesliga behind Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen. Only a point separates them from Leverkusen in second in that table.
So, Tottenham face a difficult task to progress, and Hellmann is confident they won’t, believing his side simply have more quality than Ange Postecoglou’s.
“We can now decide what this season will become. It has to be a real blow on Thursday,” he said.
“I definitely don’t want us to let this opportunity slip away. We have to force the duels on Tottenham and show from the first minute that there’s nothing to be won against us in this stadium. The stadium will be on fire.
“Whenever English clubs leave the UK, they don’t bring the same quality to the pitch. We have to put pressure on this team, including from the stands. They have to glow when they have the ball.”
