Despite reports saying Chelsea have advanced talks for the signing of Christopher Nkunku from RB Leipzig, the Bundesliga side are still to confirm that.
Outlet Fussball Transfers today features quotes from the club’s new managing sport director Max Eberl, who in his presentation, talked about the striker’s situation.
“I can’t confirm anything about Christo yet,” said Max Eberl.
“There’s a lot of interest and we’re talked to a lot, that’s the way it is. Accordingly, something is threatening.”
Fuusball Transfers points out that ‘according to unanimous media reports’, the transfer is said to ‘have already been made’. Nkunku is protected by RB Leipzig with a €60m release clause, and that’s believed to be how much Chelsea are spending on his signing.
Nkunku already has 17 goals and four assists in 23 appearances for RB Leipzig this season. The 25-year-old, however, had a knee injury in a training session prior to the World Cup, and ended up missing out in France’s squad which is playing in Qatar.
That’s exactly when the rumours of his move to Chelsea vanished a little, so we better wait and see if the Blues will actually spend all that money before the player gets fully recovered from that knee issue.
