Raúl Jiménez bas been a regular for Fulham this season, scoring 14 goals and registering three assists from 43 games.

His contract was set to expire on June 30th, but last month Fulham extend it for another year. Prior to the renewal, the striker was linked with a move away from the London club.

ESPN Deportes have had a chat with the Mexico international’s father, Raúl Jiménez Sr. and he revealed his son had offers to leave Fulham this summer.

Jiménez Sr said the 33-year-old has decided to continue at Fulham to improve his chances of playing at the 2026 World Cup.

“Fortunately, Raúl has always had, there were options, but he chose the main one. The one he wanted, and he said he was staying in London. They needed another year,” he said.

Raúl Jiménez is likely to have an important role under Marco Silva at the Premier League side next season.

Fulham took the former Benfica man from Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2023. He spent four years at Wolves and during his time Molineux, Juventus and a few others wanted him.

He suffered a serious head injury in November 2020. The Fulham player’s father opened up about when the Serie A club showed interest and why the big move didn’t materialise.

“Juventus, to name a team, but there were four top teams from different leagues, and we were close to nothing, but the pandemic and the injury hit, and then nothing happened,” Jiménez Sr. explained.

“Why didn’t he join the Turin team? Yes [it was the pandemic], because at that time, all the teams said no, that right now we wouldn’t buy him and asked for a loan, and the team didn’t want him anymore.

“Raúl has had very good offers, I’ll just tell you this quickly. Before the injury, we were already with four top teams, all very good, but the injury came, and it wasn’t possible. We were already with top teams, but the pandemic hit, and there were no more signings. Everything was on loan, and it didn’t happen anymore; that’s football.”
