For the past few weeks, reports coming out of the German press had insisted Manchester United are favourites to sign Benjamin Pavard.
It was also explained that the defender had made it clear to Bayern Munich about his desire to join Erik ten Hag’s side. This was before Inter Milan joined the race in the last few days and he’s now set to make a switch to San Siro.
Gazzetta dello Sport state the 27-year-old will soon become a new Inter player and explain how the Serie A side were able to overcome competition from Manchester United.
It’s said the Nerazzurri have offered €28 plus €5m bonuses while the Bundesliga winners want €30m fixed fee to sanction the player’s sale. The two clubs could reduce the gap as early as today to find an agreement.
The newspaper states the France international received offers from other clubs, including the one from Manchester United, which was the ‘most important of all’.
Despite this, the report adds the player ‘said no’ to Erik ten Hag’s side to favour a move to Inter.
This is a surprise claim about the Premier League side from Gazzetta, considering earlier reports had stated Pavard wants to join Manchester United.
