With Matthijs de Ligt apparently becoming Manchester United’s number one target to strengthen their defence this summer, the German media today shares a little update on that pursuit.
The information comes from Sky Deutschland journalist Florian Plettenberg, who claims the Bundesliga side have set a price for the sale.
It’s said Bayern Munich are demanding at least €50m, plus bonuses, to let De Ligt go. And Manchester United are still to place an official offer.
The story claims that Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag ‘really wants’ him’ for next season.
It’s well known that the Red Devils are looking for a new centre-back, especially with Raphael Varane leaving the club this summer.
Even though the €50m price tag doesn’t make De Ligt cheap, that still seems like less than what Manchester United would have to pay to sign Jarrad Branthwaite from Everton.
Now we’ll see if the Red Devils will deliver the bid for the Dutchman.
