While it is still far too early to know if Manchester United made the right choice when appointing Erik ten Hag as their manager, the first signs are encouraging.
A 4-0 win over Liverpool to kick off pre-season seemed to put fans and players in a more positive mood, and there were promising signs of improvement in the way the team played.
Still, the real test will come when the Premier League season kicks off and Ten Hag gets a few more signings in at Manchester United.
That, however, isn’t something Marnix Kolder, who worked under the Dutch manager at Go Ahead Eagles back during the 2012-13 season, is worried about.
“He is so obsessed with football and leaves nothing to chance. If he gets the right people around him who he can work well with, United have made a good move in hiring him.”
That is exactly what those in charge at Manchester United will be hoping for, and with the Old Trafford chiefs already gifting him Tyrell Malacia and working hard to get the Frenkie de Jong and Lisandro Martinez deals over the line, they are trying their best to give Ten Hag what he wants.
