As you might recall, Giovani Lo Celso became a target for Napoli, as the Tottenham midfielder appears to be on his way out from the club this summer.
Their main objective is getting a transfer for Gabri Veiga over the line, but their alternative is the Argentine manager, who was already the subject of conversations a while back.
Gazzetta dello Sport recall this on Monday, and explain that the Tottenham man ‘corresponds perfectly’ to what the club are looking for at this moment in time.
This is the same scenario that led to the deal for Tanguy Ndombélé last summer, as the Frenchman spent the season on loan in the south of Italy only to then return to Spurs when they didn’t trigger the option to buy.
It’s stated that talks between Tottenham and Napoli are ‘already well advanced’, but they were suspended for a while as they focused on other targets while Daniel Levy was likely entirely consumed by the Harry Kane deal.
However, with that now out of the way, Gazzetta explain that Spurs and the Serie A side are set to ‘resume’ the discussions for Lo Celso in the ‘coming days’.
