Liverpool remain in the picture for Salzburg star Karim Adeyemi and would take him ‘immediately’ if he is available for €40m.

That’s according to Sky Sports Germany journalist Marc Behrenbeck, who hints the Reds are still keen on the young German.

Adeyemi is the latest star to break onto the scene at Salzburg, with 29 goals and 19 assists in 83 games for them so far.

He’s earned himself attention from all around Europe, with several big sides thought to be keen on his signature and Liverpool regularly named among his suitors in the last few months.

They appeared to have missed out on his signature, with reports in Germany making it clear that Borussia Dortmund are at the front of the queue.

However, they are yet to agree to pay Salzburg’s €40m demands, and Behrenbeck suggests that could have opened the door for Liverpool again.

Sky explain that Dortmund have made an offer of €30-35m, but Salzburg won’t move from their €40m demands ‘under any circumstances’.

That has left the other suitors, namely PSG, Liverpool and RB Leipzig, ‘sensing their chance’, with Behrenbeck hinting they’d be happy to match Salzburg’s demands.

“There are some, especially from the Premier League, who would take him immediately for 40 million euros. That is not a lot of money for such a player,” he said.

“I still assume that the deal will go through. We are too far along for that.”
