Manchester United signed Wout Weghorst during the January transfer window, taking the striker on loan from Burnley.
He had been with Besiktas for the first half of the season, also on loan, and proved to be successful at the Turkish club.
The Dutchman will want to show enough to convince the Red Devils to keep him beyond the end of the season, but even if they do it’s likely Erik ten Hag will also want a big name striker signed.
Victor Osimhen has been one of the players linked the most, and Gazzetta dello Sport’s Sunday edition again mentions Manchester United.
Sources ‘take it for granted’ that the Premier League club, and Chelsea for that matter, are ‘ready to invest’ €120m to sign Osimhen from Napoli.
Gazzetta believe there’s only three or four English clubs, with the addition of Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, who would be able to sign the Napoli star in the summer.
Sports director Cristiano Giuntoli is credited with persuading the Serie A club to invest €50m when signing Osimhen from Lille.
And when he’s sold, with that €120m figure seen as the price, Giuntoli will get even more credit.
