Fresh off his African Ballon d’Or nomination, Sadio Mané is receiving praise left, right and centre from the media in his home country.
Following in El-Hadji Diouf’s footsteps, it’s now Bafétimbi Gomis’ turn to go out of his way to praise the Liverpool forward for his performances since his arrival to the Premier League.
Exploding at Southampton, the former Red Bull Salzburg winger eventually earned his big money move to Liverpool over the summer, where fitting in Jürgen Klopp’s plans has been far easier than anticipated.
Gomis, much like a lot of people who know the player personally, wasn’t taken aback by this in the slightest.
He told Foot Express:“I wasn’t surprised. I’ve just done two years in England, and he’s, by far, one of the best players in that league. He just wasn’t in a Big Four team. Now he’s at Liverpool, his performances are picked up on.
“He’s a player with a lot of quality, who has a lot of self-discipline, and who, each week, enters the pitch with the want to score or help his team score. I want to congratulate him publicly.”
Voted man of the match in Liverpool’s 2-1 win over West Brom at the weekend, Mané picked up a goal and an assist, taking his tally since the start of the season to four goals and four assists in nine appearances in all competitions so far.
