Besiktas are in the market for a right back this summer and along with Celtic they’re keen on Arsenal defender Carl Jenkinson, reports Aksam.
The fullback could leave Arsenal this summer after falling out of favour, and it looks like Besiktas and Celtic will go head to head for the player.
Besiktas’ current first choice right back, Gokhan Gonul, is now 34 years old and the Turkish club are looking for cover, with Jenkinson an option for the Black Eagles.
However, Aksam report Besiktas will face competition from Celtic for Jenkinson’s signature as the Scottish Premiership champions are also interested in signing the 27 year-old. This week it was confirmed Mikael Lustig has joined Gent after nearly eight years at Celtic Park.
Besiktas have reportedly offered the defender a better deal than Celtic and he could be considering a move to Turkey at this stage.
Aksam report the talks are progressing well between Besiktas and Jenkinson’s representatives and the Super Lig side are hoping to get a deal done.
