Sunderland are working to appoint a new manager after sacking Tony Mowbray earlier this week.

Two days ago, a claim from the UK stated Will Still is on the shortlist to become the next Black Cats manager.

This is relayed by Walfoot, who then provide their own take on the possibility of the Stade de Reims manager joining Sunderland.

It’s claimed the Championship side ‘will try’ to bring the Belgian to the Stadium of Light but there’s ‘little chance’ of them succeeding in their efforts. The outlet doesn’t provide any further information on why the Ligue 1 manager may not move to Sunderland, but it’s likely due to his success where he is.

Still took over at the French club in October 2022 and has been in charge for 45 games, of which Reims have won 20.

As well as Still, Sunderland have also identified Kim Hellberg as a managerial target. On Wednesday, Sweden’s Aftonbladet reported he’s set to have a meeting with the English club later today.

Hellberg is currently at Swedish side IFK Värnamo, where he has a deal until the end of this month.
