Catalan newspaper Sport explain on Monday that Barcelona really need to recoup €13m for Aleix Vidal, because they can’t write-off too much of the €17m they paid Sevilla for the fullback.
The Spaniard’s time at Barcelona is over, and has been for some time. He’s not getting in squads, and manager Luis Enrique is determined to look at other options for the right back position.
That means Aleix Vidal is on the market, but Sport explain there’s been no talks with any club yet, and they don’t think anyone will pay €13m in the winter transfer window. Therefore, the plan is to loan the player out, show how good he is, and then complete a permanent transfer for €13m.
it sounds a reasonable plan, but Barcelona need to get Aleix Vidal’s approval to go along with it.
Mundo Deportivo last week linked Sunderland, and Barcelona would certainly welcome the club starting some kind of talks to sign Aleix Vidal. Any deal is likely to be a loan with a view to a permanent transfer.
There’s also interest from Italy, and much depends on the will of the player.
