Last week, Corriere di Bologna reported Sunderland’s willingness to make a second bid for Bologna’s Jhon Lucumi.

They expressed doubts over the player’s intentions about joining the Black Cats but Regis Le Bris’ side are slowly making some progress in their move.

Il Resto del Carlino, relayed by 1000CuoriRossoblu, today reports that Sunderland is proving to be a strong temptation for Lucumi even though he hoped for a bigger club to come along.

The approach from the newly promoted Premier League side is starting to convince the Colombian and this can be a major turning point in the mini-saga.

Sunderland are expected to make a bigger offer for the 27-year-old soon, with Bologna looking to earn €25m. The newspaper claims the player’s agents are now pushing for a move to England.

Rossoblu sporting director Giovanni Sartori flew to Belgium at the weekend to watch Union St Gilloise’s Fedde Leysen, who is seen as a replacement for Lucumi.

This could be the biggest sign yet that Sunderland can land Lucumi, and their next offer will be key.
