There was a time when Sunderland’s search for a new manager was all rather exciting.

Regardless of whether he tried to wriggle out of the consequences of his comments, Will Still had at the very least flirted with the Championship club and there looked to be the real possibility that he’d end up there in the summer.

That was months ago, and somehow Sunderland still don’t have  a manager. There’s been countless favourites come and go and every couple of days there’s a new name added to the list.

One of the most recent was Didier Digard.

The 37-year-old had been caretaker manager at Nice and was looking for a senior role. However, that will not be at Sunderland.

Foot Mercato journalist Josue Casse reports Digard is set to take over at Le Havre, replacing Luka Elsner who is on his way to Stade de Reims… to replace Will Still.
