Sunderland are in advanced talks with FC Lorient over midfielder Arthur Avom Ebong as they continue their summer strengthening.
That’s according to Africa Foot, who report that Lorient could be set o lose the 20-year-old, who has also attracted interest from several European clubs including Liverpool, Chelsea, West Ham and Bournemouth in the Premier League.
Ebong was a key player in Lorient’s promotion to Ligue 1 last season, with two goals and six assists in 32 appearances.
He’s well know by Sunderland manager Régis Le Bris, who worked with him before his move to the Stadium of Light, and has taken note of his performances last season. Ebong never made an appearance under him, but Le Bris is now interested in a reunion nonetheless.
Sunderland are happy to make it happen and ‘reliable sources’ have confirmed to Africa Foot that Sunderland are in advanced talks with Lorient to sign him. There is no mention of the transfer fee, but Sunderland are reportedly set to offer him a four-year deal.
Ebong is open to a transfer this summer and the significant step forward that a move to Sunderland and the Premier League would offer him.
