Manchester City loanee João Cancelo was clearly impacted by his poor performance in Barcelona’s loss to Villarreal this weekend.
The Catalan side had a historic defeat as, after making a comeback from 0-2 to 3-2, they still lost the game 3-5, and now put the blame on themselves.
Cancelo is one of those who made mistakes that allowed Villarreal’s goals, and quoted by Mundo Deportivo, the Manchester City loanee detailed the nightmare performance he had.
“The fault is only ours. I speak for myself, my teammates had a very good attitude but I was a disaster,” said Cancelo.
“I think it was the worst 45 minutes of my career, but I’m already thinking about training tomorrow because the sun always comes out and the good thing about football is that on Wednesday we have another game and hopefully we can get the three points.”
Cancelo is loaned by Manchester City to Barcelona until the end of the season. This is his second consecutive spell away from the Premier League side, as one year ago he had already left the club to join Bayern Munich.
In a recent interview, the fullback’s agent Jorge Mendes claimed it’s certain that the La Liga giants will try to buy the player at the end of the season, even though there’s no price agreed for a permanent transfer yet.
Manchester City now certainly root for him to have a good end to the season so Barça will be convinced to spend good money on his purchase.
