On April 27th, Calciomercato reported Brighton & Hove Albion have ‘taken the first steps’ to sign Sassuolo’s Davide Frattesi in the summer.
A week ago, Voce Giallo Rossa stated Roberto De Zerbi is ‘pushing’ the Seagulls to bring the midfielder to The Amex. The manager knows him well from their time at the Serie A side.
TuttoMercatoWeb now state Brighton will join other Italian clubs in chasing the 23-year-old.
Sassuolo value the Italy international at €40m and Juventus are ahead in the race. The Old Lady, in fact, have already made contact with Frattesi and his employer.
Juve’s idea is to reduce the price by including some players as part of the deal and Sassuolo have identified Samuel Iling jr and Enzo Barrenechea as potential targets.
Napoli and Lazio are also looking to Frattesi and will consider making an approach for him if Sergej Milinković-Savić and Piotr Zieliński were to leave after this season.
TMW add Juve and other Italian clubs must ‘watch out for’ Brighton since De Zerbi could aim to sign his former player to replace Alexis Mac Allister at the club next season.
With De Zerbi keen to reunite with Frattesi, it needs to be seen if Brighton can overcome Juventus to seal the deal in the summer.
