Brighton & Hove Albion manager Roberto De Zerbi could be a candidate for Real Madrid next summer, according to Cadena Ser’s El Larguero.
Since the Italian took charge at The Amex last September, the Seagulls have excelled.
Brighton enjoyed a good start to this season, defeating Newcastle United and Manchester United in the league. They’re now in third sport and three points behind league leaders Manchester City.
Carlo Ancelotti, who is currently in charge at the La Liga side, is set to leave them for Brazil after this season. His exit will see Los Blancos look for his successor and journalist Jesus Gallego claims Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso could be an option.
The journalist states Real Madrid haven’t yet made a decision but there are several names on the table to pick from, including Alonso and the Brighton manager.
When praising De Zerbi’s work at the Premier League side, Gallego says he has ‘managed to lift’ the club with the ‘eye-catching game’.
Gallego adds that while Alonso is the strong candidate to replace Ancelotti, others like the Seagulls coach are ‘starting out as the big names’ for the same job.
Although this report won’t please Brighton, Cadena Ser haven’t made it clear if Gallego was suggesting De Zerbi could be a candidate or if Real Madrid have identified him as one of the targets.
