Youssef En-Nesyri was subject of serious interest from West Ham United in January 2021, but the forward showed no willingness to leave Sevilla.
The Hammers are said to have tried to sign the 25-year-old later that year and again in the last transfer window. The La Liga side reportedly demanded €40m all summer, which was not accepted by any of his suitors.
West Ham eventually bolstered their attack by signing Gianluca Scamacca in July, while En-Nesyri continues to struggle for his club. He has scored five goals in 2022 and two of them have come this season.
Fichajes.net point out ‘several unsuccessful attempts’ made by David Moyes’ side to sign the Morocco international. It now seems like Sevilla made a mistake rejecting the English club’s attempts, considering En-Nesyri has had a ‘transferable sign’ on him for some time.
It’s claimed the World Cup can be an ideal platform for the player to win more suitors for the January window.
As it stands, he ‘maintains a good-lineup’ in the Premier League and this can be extended to other European clubs if were to shine for Morocco in Qatar.
Sevilla believe the time has come for them to part ways with En-Nesyri and he would also not be against making a move elsewhere in January.
