Aston Villa reportedly showed a desire to invest in Juventus’ Andrea Cambiaso in the winter market but no deal took shape. He apparently continues to be a target for the Premier League side.
On April 4th, Tuttosport stated Aston Villa director Monchi has followed the 24-year-old for months and has identified him as a target for the summer window.
Fast forward to May and journalist Alfredo Pedullà suggests Aston Villa could have taken steps to try to sign the defender.
Cambiaso has been used as right and left wing-backs this season, scoring three goals and registered six assists from 39 games. His impressive performances have helped him make debut for Italy back in March.
The fullback has been on the agenda of a few Premier League sides since last summer and the report claims a €40m bid has now arrived from England.
The journalist says it’s not clear who tabled this offer but ‘many clues point to Aston Villa’, because Monchi ‘appreciates him a lot’.
Although the Premier League ‘insist’, where Unai Emery’s side are in the picture, the Old Lady are aiming to tie the player down to a new contract.
Cambiaso’s contract lasts until 2027 and Pedullà provides no information on the details of the deal that Juventus could offer him.
This all feels quite fluffy for now and not one of the more concrete Aston Villa transfer tracks.
