Back on Wednesday, reports from the English media claimed that Tottenham Hotspur see Flamengo centre-forward Pedro as a potential replacement for Harry Kane. The Independent said the Brazilian striker is ‘among several forward options’ Spurs have.
Now it’s time for the South American media to react to the story, and there’s actually some interesting information coming from there.
According to Globo Esporte, Pedro, who’s also wanted by Saudi clubs, is now aware that he’s one of the players watched by Tottenham.
It’s claimed that Spurs made an approach to the striker’s agents, and that was the only move made by the Premier League side for now.
Meanwhile, as Gazeta Esportiva also covers the news, they claim that neither Pedro nor Flamengo were ‘officially approached’ by Tottenham.
That doesn’t mean Spurs aren’t interested, but makes it clear they aren’t taking further steps for now.
A source from Flamengo guaranteed Gazeta Esportiva that Pedro’s release clause is ‘very high’. Globo Esporte also claims the club would only let him go if that is triggered.
That price is believed to be of over €60m, and it seems clear that’s a bluff, with the Brazilian club certainly accepting a lot less than that.
