A year ago, Nolito was on the verge of joining Barcelona from Celta Vigo, but the Catalan club couldn’t find the financial wriggle room to do a deal.
It’s pointed out that Nolito has only completed 90 Premier League minutes once this season, and Mundo Deportivo believe he’s fallen from grace at Manchester City, with his reputation taking a dive.
It’s a harsh look at Nolito, who was always likely to be a back-up player, whether he’d moved to Manchester City or Barcelona, and the Catalan newspaper add: ‘A year ago he was the fashionable man and now, with obvious difficulty with English football, he’s a step below the footballing expectations.’
Nolito has four Premier League goals so far this season, and one in the Champions League, it’s not been a disaster by any stretch of the imagination.
Mundo Deportivo seem perturbed Nolito didn’t kick and scream enough to get the move to Barcelona.
