After two months of repeated claims of Liverpool’s interest in Ibrahima Konaté, reports this week have suggested the deal is close to being completed.

Earlier this week, we covered claims made by Sky Germany the Reds have reached an agreement with the defender and will ‘soon officially approach’ RB Leipzig to sort out the transfer.

On May 26th, RMC Sport journalist Loïc Tanzi explained it’s ‘only a matter of days’ before the centre-back seals a move to Anfield.

Bild provide a latest update on this case and their report’s title reads, ‘Defence star goes to Klopp’.

Within the report, it’s once again explained the France U21 international and the Merseyside club have reached an agreement, for a contract until 2026. They further add the player has ‘already passed the medical check’ with Liverpool.

Konaté has a release clause of €40m in his contract and it’s now down to Jürgen Klopp’s side to trigger his buyout clause to seal the deal.

With the Frenchman already completing his medical examinations and then reaching an agreement with Liverpool, the deal is likely to be completed soon.
