Valencia’s transfer business has gone a little quiet over the past 24 hours, and that’s largely because the club had a squad presentation.
Fans at the Mestalla stadium were introduced to the Valencia squad one by one as the club embark on what will be a difficult season.
Despite the best intentions, Peter Lim’s short time in ownership of the club hasn’t gone to plan, and there’s been sales this summer after Valencia failed to qualify for the Champions League.
Further sales are very likely, and needed. One of the players the club is looking to move on is Aymen Abdennour. The defender signed from AS Monaco last summer but has failed to live up to the hype, so the club are looking for a buyer.
Everton have been in talks to sign the Tunisian, and he wasn’t greated well by Valencia fans on Saturday. Super Deporte report that the player was whistled and booed by his own supporters during the presentation.
It’s a little harsh, given it’s Valencia who are trying to sell him, rather than Abdennour forcing his way out.
Everton’s talks to sign the player are ongoing, and there should be an update early next week, with the Valencia media believing a deal is close.
