VfB Stuttgart sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth has confirmed they are in “intensive talks” with Brighton and Hove Albion over a permanent deal for Deniz Undav.
Wohlgemuth has been speaking to Sky Sports in Germany regarding the striker and a permanent move for him this summer.
Undav spent the season on loan with the German side and proved to be a massive success, bouncing back from his disappointing first year with the Seagulls and bagging 18 goals and ten assists in 30 games in the Bundesliga.
His performances propelled him into the Germany squad for Euro 2024 and have made Stuttgart determined to get a permanent deal done for him.
They can do so for around €20m but have been reluctant to pay that price, instead seeking out negotiations with Brighton over the deal.
A delegation recently travelled to England for those talks in an attempt to push things along as they look to secure the striker long-term, particularly as he regularly makes it clear that he wants the move too.
Wohlgemuth confirms those talks took place and that he will do everything he can to get a deal over the line with Brighton.
“You are well informed,” he said.
“I can confirm that we are having intensive discussions. But the facts have not changed yet. We absolutely want to do everything humanly possible to ensure that Deniz stays with us.”
