Chiquinho left Wolves late in the summer window to join Spanish side RCD Mallorca on loan.
Since then, there has been some confusion about whether Mallorca have an option to buy the Portuguese player permanently or not.
On deadline day, Marca reported the move was on the basis of a straight loan without a purchase option. That coincided with the same claim from media closer to Wolves.
However, Mallorca sporting director Pablo Ortells has now come out and said his club do have an option.
Speaking about the summer window loan arrivals of Chiquinho and Valery Fernández, Ortells is quoted by Diario de Mallorca, and a few others in Spain, as saying “both include a purchase option”.
That’s been reported unquestionably as the case, and Ortells wasn’t then pressed further on it.
Wolves including a buying option would obviously be something of a surprise after insistence that they hadn’t. Sporting CP had been trying to sign Chiquinho for much of the summer, but it was thought Gary O’Neil and the Premier League club had been impressed by the player during preseason and decided to stay connected with him.
