Before the transfer window closed on August 9th, we covered several reports talking about Barcelona striker Paco Alcacer’s links to Watford.

Sport claims the Spanish giants have already informed the 24-year-old that he will struggle to get more minutes on the pitch, if he continues at the Camp Nou. Therefore, the Blaugrana had insisted on him finding a new club and were looking to allow him to leave on a permanent transfer.

The Catalan newspaper talks about an approach from the Premier League outfit and says Watford were the ‘most interested’ club in signing the former Valencia man, who still has three years left on his contract at Camp Nou.

Javi Gracia’s side were ready to bring Alcacer to Vicarage Road on a two-year loan deal with an option to buy him in 2020. However, Ernesto Valverde’s side didn’t accept the figures offered by the English club and thus the deal did not take shape.

Barcelona still have time until the end of this month to offload Alcacer and it should be seen whether they will be able to find a solution for their player or not.
