Reports from the Spanish media today are back linking Manchester United to Atletico Madrid midfielder Saúl Ñíguez.
Outlet AS is the one saying the 25-year-old attracts some big interest from the Premier League, with the Red Devils being top of the list.
It’s said Manchester United ‘seem decided’ on signing the player, and for that to happen, they would be putting around €80m on the table.
Saúl is protected at Atletico Madrid with a contract until 2026 and a release clause of €150m. But the Old Trafford side find this amount to be exaggerated.
The big reason why Manchester United would go for Saúl, according to AS, is their belief that Paul Pogba would leave the club in the summer.
The Red Devils consider the Spaniard to be in the best moment of his career, with the perfect age to make an immediate impact in the Premier League.
But AS also says that Saúl is a ‘vital piece’ for Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone, so perhaps it shouldn’t be that easy to take him away from the club.
