Manchester United and Gareth Bale, an endless (and newspaper favourite) love story.
On Wednesday, Sport are claiming United are coming very seriously’ for the Welsh star as they offer him a salary of €20m (about £17m) per year.
According to the website, Real Madrid haven’t offered Bale more than the €10m per year he already earns, although the player is asking for €17m.
The story claims that Manchester United’s attempt is not something made up by the player’s agent Jonathan Barnett to get a better contract at Madrid.
It even mentions a rivalry between the clubs after the failed transfer of David De Gea an year ago, so this would be a chance for the English side to show their power.
Bale’s renewal is something that’s been heavily covered in the past few days. Then a Catalan outlet, known for winding up the club from the capital week after week, shows up during the negotiations saying the Galacticos won’t have enough money to keep their star.
It’s good they say it was not his agent who made up the story, because we have another guess.
