Considering they’ve brought in a new manager over the summer, Chelsea haven’t exactly overhauled their squad as you may have expected them to.
The search for a new centre-back continues after the arrivals of N’Golo Kanté and Michy Batshuayi from Leicester and Marseille respectively, but it’s an attacking midfielder who could be next if Sport are to be believed.
The Catalan newspaper claim that, according to sources in England, the London club would be prepared to offer €90m for Real Madrid’s James Rodriguez.
The Colombian forward revealed earlier on this summer the Spanish club had rejected a big offer for him and that he wanted to stay in Madrid, but with an alleged €150m left to spend, Chelsea are ready to test Florentino Pérez with the aforementioned offer.
There have been big question marks over whether Zinedine Zidane actually wants the player in his squad, and if this is true (it’s a bold claim), then he could get some money to play around with in the near future.
It’s always worth pointing out that any story about Real Madrid players from either Sport or Mundo Deportivo needs to be taken with a bucket of salt considering their favouritism for Barcelona, but you never know, they can always have a good bit of information up their sleeve.
