Southampton want to sign Corinthians’ Yuri Alberto before the transfer window closes on Friday, according to multiple claims from Brazil.
Journalist Benjamin Back claims Southampton have made an offer to sign the 23-year-old on a loan deal with an option to buy.
Southampton’s proposal includes a €3m loan fee, and the buying option is set at €18m.
Another Brazilian journalist, Venê Casagrande, also states the Saints’ offer of loan with the right to buy is on the table. He adds it now depends on Corinthians for the ‘operation to go ahead’.
UOL have relayed Back’s report and then provide their own updates on this case.
They say the Premier League side haven’t yet made an official offer to secure the striker’s services. However, Russell Martin’s side are negotiating with Corinthians over signing Alberto. To do this, they are willing to offer €3m loan fee and an €18m purchase option.
According to the report, Corinthians want to sell or include a mandatory purchase option as part of the loan deal. They continue to hold talks with Southampton, likely to find a compromise.
Alberto has scored 17 goals and registered three assists from 38 games for Corinthians this year.
