Southampton are about to sign Braga star Vitinha, according to reports from Portugal.
Journalist Pedro Sepulveda writes that the Saints have already told the Arsenalistas that they’re triggering his €30m release clause.
It’s said Southampton are offering Vitinha a four-and-a-half-year deal, and even though it’s not made clear whether he’s about to sign that, that’s the obvious outcome here, given the communication to the Portuguese club.
Vitinha has been standing out with Braga this season, with 13 goals and five assists so far, and it’s been a few months since he started being linked to European clubs, especially from France, England and Italy.
It’s always worth pointing out that this Vitinha is a home-grown player from Braga, having never moved to another club. So he should not be mistaken for the other Vitinha, who played for Porto and Wolverhampton Wanderers, and is now at Paris Saint Germain, despite both of them being 22-years-old.
Southampton’s move for him is backed up by O Jogo, who claim the clubs now discuss the payment method, since Braga’s request is to receive that all at once.
