Southampton are interested signing Ajax midfielder Nemanja Gudelj, according to claims in the Italian media. The Serbia international only joined the Dutch side last year, but could be heading to the Premier League.
TMW have today claimed Southampton are in talks to sign Gudelj as they look to bolster their squad in the next transfer window. With Victor Wanyama signing for Tottenham Hotspur in the summer, Southampton could look to add some steel in central midfield, and the Serbian is named as an option to manager Claude Puel.
It’s been revealed Ajax are looking for €7m from Southampton to land the 25-year-old, and won’t be under pressure to reduce the price this given he’s contracted to the club until June 2020.
Gudelji has spent his entire career playing in the Netherlands, and now has Dutch citizenship. The midfielder joined Ajax in 2015 from AZ, and has gone to make 40 league appearances, scoring 6 goals. Gudelji has been capped 14 times by Serbia.
