German magazine Sport Bild go over the future of Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting in their edition this week. There’s an ‘alarm’ at Schalke that the player could be heading for the exit, and with good reason.
English clubs are said to be interested, with with Stoke City and Southampton the ones named, but more important is the player’s contract situation.
Choupo-Moting’s current Schalke deal runs out in June, meaning that from January he can talk to other clubs about a free summer switch. That will of course spike the interest of Stoke, Southampton, and others, and create further worry for Schalke.
Sport Bild explain that Schalke general manager Christian Heidel doesn’t want Premier League interest to push up Choupo-Moting’s wage demands too much, but perhaps the club should have thought about that a long time before now.
Should Stoke and Southampton be genuinely interested then they could surely tempt the 27 year old with Premier League wages. Choupo-Moting can play anywhere across a front three, and also as a winger.
He’s represented by Rogon who put a lot of work into securing Roberto Firmino a good Premier League move.
