Mislav Oršić has been urged to leave Southampton and find a club where he will ‘be more appreciated’ in the summer.
That’s the opinion of Sportske and journalist Robert Matteoni, who believed the Croatian’s move to Southampton have been nothing short of a disaster.
Oršić joined the Saints in a €5.75m deal from Dinamo Zagreb at the beginning of January as they looked to bolster their forward line and aid their battle against relegation.
However, he is yet to make any impact for the club so far, making just five appearances totalling 192 minutes of football so far.
He ‘did not get a chance’ to impress after his debut against Aston Villa and has since found himself as a ‘unique example of the marginalisation’.
Oršić himself has struggled to prove his worth, finding the jump from the comfort of Zagreb, where he was part of a dominant team, to Southampton, who they describe as ‘the weakest team in the league’, too difficult to manage.
They argue, though, that he should have been given time and patience to adapt but at Southampton, whose status is ‘burning under his feet’, there is no such patience available.
The big question now is how the next few months will unfold, with it clear he is unlikely to play any role in the last ten games. That’s at least what ‘logic imposes’.
Instead it is ‘psychologically important’ that he plans a change of club in the summer and founds a place where he will be ‘more appreciated’ than he currently is.
