Will Still is one step away from becoming Southampton’s new manager, with a contract now signed and the deal to be announced.
That’s according to L’Equipe, who report that Still is set to join Southampton just a few days after his surprise departure from Lens.
The newspaper reports that the Belgian has reached an agreement with Southampton in the last few hours to become their next manager.
Still announced his departure from Lens amid a desire to return to England to be closer to his partner, who was hospitalised in London due to infectious encephalitis and subsequently placed in a coma in March.
He wanted to be closer to her during her recovery, leading to a departure from France and a return to England.
It seems, though, he’s set for an immediate return to management with Southampton, who have now reached an agreement to hire him as their next manager. L’Equipe report the deal should be formalised shortly and then, presumably, announced.
He’ll take charge of the Saints as they return to the Championship next season following a disappointing season in the Premier League, that’s seen them barely avoid equalling Derby County’s lowest ever points tally.
