With Southampton’s relegation to the Championship looking nearly certain now, it’s natural to see a list of players ready to leave St. Mary’s in the summer.
This week, rumours in the Brazilian media talked about the future of Saints defender Lyanco, who’s said to be a target for Vasco da Gama.
Even though those stories weren’t reported by reliable outlets, that now gets an update from journalist Jorge Nicola, who managed to speak to the father and agent of the Southampton player.
Marcelo Vojnovic told Nicola there’s a possibility for Lyanco to stay in Europe, as other clubs have already shown their intentions to sign him. Still, the representative didn’t rule out a potential move to Vasco.
The defender, who joined the Saints in a €7.5m move from Torino in 2021, has a contract with the club running until 2025.
With ups and downs this season, he made 26 appearances so far. It’s still unclear whether Southampton will be willing to give him away in the summer, or if they’ll ask for a compensation for a player whose Transfermarkt value is currently €4m.
