Southampton’s chase for Jerónimo Dómina is gaining some more attention from the Argentine media.
Last week, we saw outlet El Litoral revealing that the Saints placed an offer to sign the player on a loan with a €1m buying option, which was rejected by Unión Santa Fe.
We now get to see Southampton’s chase backed up by journalist Germán García Grova, who works for TyC Sports and is usually on the money when it comes to transfers.
The reporter claims that the Saints have ‘set their eyes’ on the youngster and there are ‘formal negotiations’ between the clubs.
Some information is also brought by Rudy Galetti, who claims the talks between Southampton and Unión Santa Fe are ‘ongoing’, as the player ‘appreciates the idea’ of making a move to Europe.
Dómina is an 18-year-old striker who’s having his second year in professional football. He has 46 appearances for his club so far, with five goals and two assists.
South American clubs aren’t used to accepting loan deals, especially with Southampton offering so little for the buying option, so they may have to drastically change their bid.
