RC Lens see Southampton’s Kamaldeen Sulemana as a great market opportunity in the winter market.

That’s according to Foot Mercato, who say the forward’s profile and qualities pleases Lens sporting director Diego López.

Southampton, who signed him from Stade Rennais in February 2023, have struggled in the Premier League this season. They’re bottom of the table and are 11 points behind 17th placed Leicester City.

The report states the 22-year-old would welcome a move back to France, and particularly to Lens, before Monday’s deadline so he can ‘relaunch’ himself. The Saints are open to letting him leave in this window.

This would come as an encouragement for Lens, who can ‘jump at the opportunity’ to sign the attacker. The operation is difficult to carry out due to the differences between the two clubs.

It’s claimed the Ligue 1 side want to sign Sulemana on a paid loan deal with an option to buy. Ivan Jurić’s side have rejected that as they want €8-9m plus a high percentage on a future sale.

Sulemana is ‘open to the idea’ of playing at Lens and there could be developments if one of the clubs were to change their stance.
