Following the rumours regarding the new ownership of Colombian side Independiente Medellin, the City Football Group are now pointed out as the potential buyers.
There’s been a lot of gossip about who would actually acquire the club, and part of the media was caught by surprise when journalist Sebastián Vargas came up with the name.
The reporter showed up with two interesting pieces of information in a single tweet. He first said that the City Group are buying Independiente Medellin, and then claimed that a Manchester City player should arrive on a loan move.
He’s talking about the transfer of Marlos Moreno, who joined the Premier League side in 2016, and is currently having a loan spell at Lommel.
Big outlets in Colombia such as Marca and RCN are all covering this report, but they’re also being quite careful before buying the story.
A takeover from such a rich group would mean something huge for Colombian football. For now, the only South American side owned by the City Group is Uruguayan club Montevideo City Torque.
