As the Dutch media won’t stop doing their big coverage of Manchester United this start of season, they continue to find different ways to speak about the Red Devils.

So as Veronica Superguide now feature English singer and club fan Robbie Williams on their front page, despite speaking mostly of other subjects, they also had a word with him about the Old Trafford side.

Calling him a ‘gifted footballer’, they asked him if things can ‘also change’ at Manchester United, where Dutch manager Erik ten Hag has just managed to win four games in a row, including the victories against Liverpool and Arsenal.

“I think there is something very rotten in the club and that goes from the top of United to all parts of the club. It is incredibly sad and it is really incomprehensible that such a huge dereliction of duty has arisen there. And for such an incredible institution. It’s much worse than confusion and chaos, this should never have come this far,” Robbie Williams told Veronica Superguide (via Tijdschrift).

Still speaking of the Red Devils’ new boss, Veronica Superguide asked Robbie Williams if the coach can ‘turn the tide and get the club back on track’.

The singer, however, doesn’t seem that optimistic that Ten Hag or any other manager would be able to do that job.

“I don’t think even Jesus is able to get the club back on track. I do not think that the Lord, even if he throws all his miracles into battle, is able to solve this misery. It’s a shame for Erik because you know, I really believe in him and I like his football philosophy. He is so good at what he does. But he can’t fix it, Pep Guardiola can’t, Jurgen Klopp can’t… It’s really shocking.”

Erik ten Hag has now overseen six games in charge of Manchester United.

He had a tough start losing the games to Brighton and Brentford, and then found the consecutive wins against Liverpool, Southampton, Leicester City and Arsenal.
