As you know, Tottenham, as well as signing the likes of Richarlison and Yves Bissouma for the first-team this season, planned for the future by acquiring Destiny Udogie.

The left-back was bought by Spurs and sent back to Udinese, where he has had a great start of the campaign, scoring two goals in his first four games.

He’s already explained this is an unusual season for him, but the Tottenham man has made it clear he just wants to improve and arrive in London as the best player he can be.

However, Spurs, who finally won the race for his services, weren’t the only club interested, as Juventus were also keen to add the youngster to their squad.

Il Bianconero, following Udogie’s performance at the weekend, look back at why the Serie A giants never managed to get a deal struck, and while Alex Sandro not leaving is part of it, a smart decision made by those in charge of transfer at Tottenham i.e. Fabio Paratici, also counted.

The website explain that Tottenham’s decision to ‘leave him on loan this season’ was something Udinese’s owners ‘appreciated’ and ‘partly influenced the outcome of the operation’.

Of course, the money on the table also had something to do with it, but it’s clear the prospect of keeping Udogie for the 2022-23 campaign was also a big plus for the Serie A side.

All in all, a transfer that suited both parties, which is why it eventually went through with a handshake and some big smiles.
